Hill Bar & Grill in Waller, TX

Houston Burger Club made a lengthy trip to Waller, Texas to try the burgers at Hill Bar and Grill.

The 45 minute drive didn’t deter as over 20 people showed up for burgers, beers and a mechanical punching game.  Seemingly out in the middle of nowhere, Hill Bar and Grill was pretty full as we pulled up.  When we walked in, long picnic style tables lined the dining area.  We were able to secure most of us at one table while the late stragglers had to settle for a table next to the main group.  Many different burgers (some with Texas toast) and fry options are offered so selections varied.

We expected to wait some time because of the large order but that was not a problem; HB&G has a very lively environment and the pitchers of beer were cheap and served quickly so everyone was having a great time waiting.  When the food arrived, most burgers looked very appetizing.  As burgers were consumed, member started forming their opinions on all aspects of the burger.  The main positives seemed to be the quality of the toppings and the visual aesthetics of the burger.  Unfortunately, the burgers seemed to be on the dry side and the Texas toast seemed underwhelming.  The other qualities measured out in the average range.  Overall, a decent burger but a bit disappointing considering all the hype and the drive.
We hung around after the official meeting and played some pool, old school video games and punched the mechanical robot.  Weitzel managed to set the high score in the punching game with a punch measured in the high 800s while Zach had the distinction of registering a 10.  The low girl score was in the 400s.
